I CONFESS I'VE BEEN AWOL !

Hi all, I have to confess I joined the site some time ago but haven't participated much until now - though I have been a "Lurker" or Leecher or whatever the hell the youngsters call looking at a site and not participating !!

I was Royal Signals 1977-1988 served in BAOR 1979-84; firstly in 202 Signal Squadron (33 Armd Bde) just as we changed over from the "Task Farce" concept (!) - we were part of 3 Div at the time.

Later the Brigade changed to 4 Div and I was sent to a Rear Link Det with the Black Watch for 2 years (as a punishment I think !).

Later posted back to the UK and 244 Signal Squadron (Air Support) - happy days !

BAOR was certainly an experience and I remember I could never get the dirt - and that bloody silver paint from the '432's out of my hands !!

Hope to participate a bit more now - but guilty as charged for being AWOL - any chance of an admonishment ?!

yes, "lurker" is the term I think "leecher" is quite something different!

Thanks Recce - I was once subject to something called "Athol Brose" (IIRC) at a Corporal's Mess Burns Night - even the jocks were split as to whether it was beautiful or bloody awful !!
