| Im trying to find any photos of sennelager, Im researching for a briefing day for some officers in my Regt (QDG) and for a article for a magazine.
Im looking at the Tiger and King tiger units that were based and trained there, as this area was where they did all the trials and testing of the tank. Ive managed to get on the area and look at these sites but its hard to get any pics of this time.
I thought I would pick the brains of some old sweats who have done more time in the Naffi queue than Ive done in the army.
Steve

| When you can spell NAAFI correctly you become an old sweat I've recently read a book about a tiger commander and he mentioned being at Sennelager. It had a section of photo's as well but for the life of me I can't remember the title and my library website is not responding so I can't check my borrowing history. If you already know about this then ignore but if not, I will try and look up the title once the library website is back on line. | |

Stephen Cleator ( B Sqn, 1st QDG, Sennelager) Stephen, You might find something here (need Danish Translator though):- http://www.stenboye.dk/brigaden/default.htmor here:- http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/inhaltsverzeichnis1.htmIf you Google lexikon der wehrmacht (the italics are mine - use plain type) it will give you the option to translate into English, and it is reasonable. | I do know that to a German soldier a posting to Sennelager was considered about the worst thing that could happen to him(bit like Tidworth maybe?)Here in Detmold we still hear the explosions that take place on the Senne when the Brit and German Units are training.A plan by the Brits to build four "kampfdorfer"has been put on ice for financial reasons! ------- Don | |
