| Paul, On a trip to Berlin by car at Christmas in 1982, we stayed at Edinburgh House. It was actually quite luxurious and cost next to nothing. Would you believe that Frogs Legs were on the menu! Excellent baby sitting facilities were provided for my eldest son who was then in a carry-cot whilst we went out in the evening. As I recall, there was a large Offrs Mess just around the corner. | |

| The 'bop' was held on the top floor of Summit House NAAFI each Friday (and Saturday I think). It was a mixing pot for the local units and a place where they could get tanked up cheaply, before taking the Theodore Heuss Platz U Bahn ('TH Platz' in local Brit parlance) down to the Zoobahnhof in teh city centre. Needless to say that between kicking out time and the time they arrived at the TH Platz U Bahn station, there were usually a few skirmishes between rival capbadges which was a bit like the starting gun for us letting us know that we would be busy for the rest of the night up and down between the guardrooms and the city centre, wth the occasional visit to the BMH at Dickensweg. 'Millionaires' weekend was usually the busiest as it drew them all out. Still, it was fun. | |

| The building still exists (amazingly - considering the amount of redevelopment in Berlin) you can see it quite clearly on Google street view; I last stayed there in the summer of 1976 for the Berlin Polo - happy memories! | |
