| Has anyone been lucky enough to have visited there. I was lucky enough to have a trip up there last year on behalf of the RAOC Forum for The Palestine Veterans day. What a marvellous place, I'm determined to get up there again, 1 day doesn't do it justice at all. http://www.edencamp.co.uk/ | |

| I've been there. Great place but lots of little kids running wild when I went. Need a good day to take it all in. | |

| Had a brochure for the place for years and keep meaning to go. Maybe when I retire and have a bit of time to spare? | |

| Yes, brilliant place, and yes, you need a couple of visits to take it all in (went there three weeks ago, also I agree about kids, lots of school groups go, which is a good thing though.) Also, handy area for Castle Howerd and National Railway Museum (If you're an anorak, like me.) | |

| We went in a campervan and stayed iin a little village called Harton, at a farm called Peartree Farm. Just a small site, but had all we needed and was handy for main road.

| I've been a couple of times now and it's well worth the trip for any of you coming from afar. You can easily tie it in with a visit to the Air Museum at Elvington, which is just outside York and is another place well worth the visit. The folks who look after both places really do them justice. You can try to avoid the mobs of kids by avoiding teh summer holidays, but quite a few are school 'history' trips, so they pop up whenever. The last time we were over there, the visiting school trip were all dressed up as evacuees, which (although they were noisy little buggers) really added to the atmosphere.
Several of the 'inmates' stayed on after the war and lived locally. I would imagine that most are no longer with us sadly.

| You did so well lying the RAOC Wreath at the Palestine Memorial last year Jim, I think you should do it again [hint] The whole area is well worth a visit. It all depends on what your interests are. Malton is just down the road which has some good hotels, http://www.worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk/malton/tourism/Or Pickering for the North York Moors Railway as filmed in Heartbeat, of of course York itself with the National Railway Museum. _________________ Sua Tela Tonanti

| If you do visit and you are looking for a decent bite to eat, when you leave Eden Camp turn left and head towards Pickering. Halfway up the road and on the left side is the Black Bull. Nice place, decent scoff. Both Pickering and Malton are worth a wander round but parking (like everywhere else) is at a premium. The North Yorks Moors Railway is brilliant, but busy at the weekends. If you are considering renting a static caravan or camping, I would recommend the site at Rosedale Abbey. Your less than an hour to Scarborough/Whitby/York and all of the locations mentioned so far are nearby. | |

| Hi All, I had a great day out at Eden Camp Found it more or less by accident when we were on holiday in york. For anyone interested in WW2 this is a great place to see. I normally get told that I spend too much time reading everything when we go to these places but my wife was also facinated by it all. We stayed at :Heworth Guest House126 East Parade Heworth, York, YO31 7YG. A really nice little hotel with great food. | |

You sound like me, I always want to take the time to read everything whereas others don't. Sometimes think it is best to go alone or with another enthusiast.
