Reminds me of the time we went into a neighbours flat for a new years eve party. He was RMP and things were getting a bit out of hand. I suggest that if things didn't calm down someone might call the RMP. "Be pointless, they are all here" was the reply I got.

I would hazard a guess the RMP had a reputation for downing some jars, I guess from what I can remember everyone liked a ciggy and a few wee Drams around this Era ! Still people new how to interact and be social back then don't you think ?

One of my fav moments was being charged by a member of the RMP (l/CPL) for obstruction.
The result being that the young lad went away with a lot of egg on his face.Apparently he didn`t know that obstruction had to be physical..It didn`t help my mate though, who he and his partner fitted up.He also pissed off my RSM who went ape shit because one of HIS Cpl s had been banged up for the night.

Jed Stone, a friend of mine in 1 (BR) Corps got picked up by the RMP leaving the CPL's mess in his car, he was taken to the Guard Room and ordered to piss into a phial, as they didn't escort him he half filled it with water as well. He got off with it. Smile

The Treasurer of my local RBL is retired RMP and we both served at Sennelarger at the same time. He was a right 'Bar Steward'

I might add he was the RMP Mess Barman at the time LoL

Thankfully no. I am still in contact with one who I consider a good friend. Helps that his wife and mine got on very well.

I guess its the same as Civvie Street Coppers you get your jobsworths and your heroes, I can imagine a lot of sqaddies took a dim view over RMP as they had the upper hand in most situations and if you got a right pillock throwing his weight about he was generally breeding a dislike for the whole of RMP !

The thing that people don't see with RMP is how they 'operate' within. Squaddies over the decades have whinged about how badly they have been treated by RMP. If only they saw how RMP 'policed' their own. It is a terrible organisation for throwing out the rule book when it wants to shaft its own and take it from me, whilst there are some salt of the earth types who genuinely want to serve the military community, there are some real weasels spread evenly amongst its hierarchy. It is indeed an awful and unforgiving organisation ran by spiteful people who's careers would not have survived so long as they have done, in any other cap badge.

It's a shame WATCHDOG are getting all this flak.

It was the German police that were the villains of the piece in my opinion.
