I arrived four days early for basic on an air trooping flight from Germany and wow, it was actually fun.... NOT Funny that, I arrived 4 days early at Deepcut as well after attending what was then a trials 'Recruit Selection Process' at Sutton Coalfield. I was put into a long room, and joined by a re-enlistment the following morning. We were told to bed down in civvies, [even though I had a basic working dress from recruit selection, which the Deepcut QM knew nothing about!] to keep the room & abutions clean and tidy [which were spotless, as the last group had just moved out] and were visited each morning to check on us, otherwise I was left alone till 'Form Up' day when we were treated as if we had just arrived with the rest. Now then, My first 'Block Job' was the 'Blanco Room', which was worse than Abutions anyday! No one told us, but the best was to clean it was with buckets of hot water to dilute the blanco, followed by a scub down, and as I had worked in a butchers shop, I soon got on top of it, as it was the same problem, differant crud! _________________ Sua Tela Tonanti
