PostSubject: BAOR Service Records   17/8/2018, 15:52

Hi
I have been researching the military career of a family member and the records I received from the MOD finished with the statement “BAOR Embarked NWE 6 Sep 45”. There are no further records, not even a date for leaving the army. I would like to know if there is a reason why details of his service with BAOR were not included.

His name was William Henry Mounsey. He was a Major in the Royal Engineers.

Thanks

Royal Engineers
Regular Army Emergency Cammission
Mounsey, W. H. (War Service Commission:
2nd Lt. 13/1/41
Lt. 1/5/42
Temp/Capt. 1/5/42 (W.S./Capt. 14/5/44)
T/Maj. 14/5/44)
In Oct 1945 Army List showing as such.
In Jan 1946 Army List showing as being released by then with rank of Hon. Maj.

That is Army List Part 1

Army List Part III for Oct 45 or Jan 46 should show a short biography!

A Mounsey Family was living on Hans-Hinrichstrasse Detmold in 1953,
so a transfer by an over 45 yr old officer with considerable "Railway" skills to the
Control Commission for Germany (British Element) (CCG) is feasible to aid the re-build
of the German economy - still being researched.

Haven't found a Death for WH Mounsey in UK BMD up to 1979
