I served in the 1st Essex during my National Service. You have stated that the Regiment were in Minden from 1949 to 1951. This is inaccurate; I was in the advance party of the battalion and arrived in Elizabeth Barracks in January 1951 from Colchester. I left Minden in October that year but I understand that the regiment stayed there for 2 years.

Have a record that 1st Essex arrived Apr 51 then moving to Lüneburg Oct 51 when HQ 31 Lorried Inf Bde HQ moved there as well...will look deeper but still on 45-49 at the moment
