I take Steve's point but I think it is more complex and although the title is immigrants, most of us are talking about the illegal ones who come here as economic migrants. They allegedly seek asylum yet pass through many safe countries to get to the UK, so can't exactly be worried about their safety.

It's a fact of life in this country and I defy anyone to say differently, that Asians are the biggest fraudsters in this country. Granted it may be a way of life in their own countries but it is very much a minority of natives Brits that do the same thing. Every programme about illegal sales of booze and fags features Asian shops. Credit card fraud, mainly Asians and Eastern Europeans. False accident claims, 75% are by Asians. (I know this for a fact as my daughter used to deal with them). Just watched a little bit of crime watch and the CCTV segment showed Asians distracting people at a cash point and stealing from them. Same with a con at a store.

It is not all immigrants but given the percentage of them to natives then they contribute a hell of a lot to our crime figures and don't even get deported once they are caught.

Lightening up a bit, how many people know that we actually invaded Iceland in the second world war before the Germans could get their hands on it?

Britain invaded on 10th of May 1940.

When Churchill visited Iceland during the war he told the Icelandic government that Iceland was lucky that Britain had arrived first since the allies would have taken it back at whatever cost had the Germans beaten them to it. Apparently the reason Britain moved so quickly to occupy Iceland was that some information had come out of Germany that the Germans had mobilised an army ready to invade Iceland in order to further isolate Europe from North America.

I never knew about Iceland until I visited an old guy regarding amateur radio. He was one of the invaders and his wife was Icelandic. She was most indignant about it still although she did meet her husband. Quite funny really but I don't think we killed anyone or did we?

Would have been a bugger for the Atlantic convoys had the Germans got it though!

a small article in one newspaper a couple of weeks ago, when an intrepid reporter was asking some would be immigrants [the illegal type ] why they were trying to reach england,their answer was, we have heard much about TREASURE ISLAND. so do you blame them.

Not racist, but first trip back to UK was in 1997 (migrated to OZ in 1966.)

Upon arrival at HEAFROW, I almost did an about turn, thought I was at New Delhi Airport, most of the customs/immigration officers had TURBANS !

But you have to admit, Asian immigration gave you curry sauce on your chips.

Read in the Mirror earlier about another Asian shopkeeper selling some cheap plonk as champagne by putting another label over the original. Got to laugh at the dickheads who are so far up their own arses yet can't tell the difference.
