| Were there any camps in Bad Salzuflen? There is a very small pads area there, but I wasn't aware of any camps. | |

| As far as I am aware there has never been any Barracks in Bad Sal.
There are indeed MQ areas behind the Rathaus and there is also a community centre which is basically a quarter done up as a boozer.
Hope this helps![ | |

| Please excuse me if I ask questions using the incorrect lingo as I am posting from Canada.
I found this site today when doing a google search on Bad Salzuflen and BAOR.
My father was posted to Bad S as a member of BAOR following the war and spent quite some time there. He was a Sgt. Dads long gone none but I have been thinking of taking a trip over to Germany to check out the town. Last summer I visited Normandy, very moving.
Any information people could provide that may give a clue as to the houses the British took over would be appreciated.
Thanks. | |

| Might help:
It would appear that we had a NAAFI ran hotel there. |

| Sorry, there should have been a link to NAAFI there, but for some reason it doesn't want to show.
Try googling 'British Army Bad Salzuflen'. The link is about 6 down on page 1. Tells of an old NAAFI lass making a return trip to Bad S. Only a brief article but interesting nevertheless. |

| RMP units of 20th Arm'd Brig and 6th Arm'd Div were padded there. I'll get more info from someone who was there and post it later. | |

| After making enquiries with former RMP personnel, it would appear that there were no British bases in Bad Salz (as we used to call it).
Some MQ's (private houses) were rented to BAOR families.
It would appear that the area was policed by RMP from 11th Arm'd Div.& later 4th Inf. Div. based in Herford. | |

| Thanks for the info Redcap.
On another note, does your own site record grave markers for those RMP members who made the supreme sacrifice?
The reason I ask - I am pretty sure that there is a marker in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim. I am up there occasionally, and I will get a photo if you want.

| No sorry Paul, this is digging real deep into the mind. All I can remember is picking up a Ford Zephyr staff car, and hitting a Merc 180 on the way back to Osnabrück. Both our CO and MTO were pleased. But our CO got another newer staff car, which I was not allowed to look at. Mike in Germany | |
