| No Rooti gong, I notice ! Interestingly, I also notice, in the middle of the display, there seems to be a ribbon with the Mentioned in Dispatches palm leaf on it. I thought that was a purely Commonwealth decoration. | |

| He is better than all the others put together.
A true hero.
And he can dance a bit, too.

| Talking of the VC, i`ve always thought that it would be better to wear this medal above all the others, like the `septics` do with their CMH, as it is the highest possible award a soldier can recieve. What do you all think about this?

| Curious, all this time since he got the VC and he's only just made Cpl. Were we not supposed to salute a VC at one time ? | |

He is financially supported by the army despite being unfit for duty..In my opinion, the powers that be know there would be outrage if they discharged him and just wheel him out on special occasions. Johnboy....Ta much for starting this thread.I now have a few ideas for my new uniforms.. Now ..let me see..Where is that little minx Mimi hiding??? |

No he`s not.unless he got it this week.... Point of order FM, having recently returned (sober and properly dressed), from my sojourn abroad, I have been avidly reading back copies of The Gunner. Page 9 of Junes' edition has a photograph of 5 surviving VC holders mustering at the Firepower Museum, they are in London to mark the Queens Diamond Jubilee. Cpl Beharry is amongst them proudly showing off two chevrons, also in the photograph is a wheelchair bound Sgt Will-i-am Speakman! You really must have a word with your Staff Officers!!

As for my staff officers....Heads will roll if this proves to be true...I see Jimsigs has gone AWOL..so his job is up for grabs Oh BTW Barnes Wallis wasn`t in this pic ?was he? |

Point of order FM, having recentlyalso in the photograph is a wheelchair bound Sgt Will-i-am Speakman!
Interesting the way you've written his name. I recall, years back that Speakman's VC was condidered ill deserved.

And get your hair cut.. His service in Northern Ireland may not have been during the general qualifying period for the GSM with Northern Ireland clasp which is a minimum of 30 service between 14 August 1969 and 31 July 2007 _________________ Sua Tela Tonanti

Good luck to the lad. I don't think that the promotion and the picture are connected, Gordon. I read that he was promoted on the 31st of May.
