| I would like to take this oportunity to point out that the stated date for the move from Verden to Liebenau is incorrect. I joined 112 Coy RASC at Verden in January 1961 (after two weeks at the Trg School by the Toc H). We were there for Christmas and New Year 61/62 and moved to Liebenau after that and shortly before we went to Hamburg for the flood relief on Saturday the 17th of February '62. (Cyclops is the nickname I was given shortly after joining 112) | |

| Cyclops welcome to the site. I was also with 112 Coy RASC, in the REME Wksp from 1958 - 62. If you were to check out references in locations in the Main Site you will find that the date for the move to Liebenau is correctly given as 1961. I remember the flood relief very well, we were the first Brits to be deployed to Hamburg - a troop of 4 tonners, plus REME support - I was the Sgt i/c the fitters. We operated in the flood area under Police/Bundeswehr control. I still have my commemerative book issued by the Hamburg Senate in October 62 to all those involved in the relief operations.

| G'day BobG, sorry but I disagree about the date, I spent my first Christmas ('61) at Verden. Regarding the flood relief, I remember checking the "Water Level" in the headlights of the RL,s after we'd driven through the floods on the autobahn. I came back after a couple of days with a "dead" RL on an A frame behind the knocker as I was going on leave. In the back were two Seycelle chaps, Jenavol and Arnaphie (or the like) who'd only just arrived from Blighty and had spent all of the time huddled under blankets in the back of a wagon. | |

| Cyclops where the confusion lies is that the move commenced before Xmas, with advanced parties, myself included, moving to Liebenau to take over the accommodation and workshops from 32 Armd Wksp They moved to Fallingbostal to amalgamate with 7 Armd Wksp and this move was complete by Dec 61. The rest of 112 Coy moved in early Jan 62, as no doubt you remember that you had hardly settled when the Hamburg floods occured.

| Ah, the Advance Party would be simply the Advance Party moving in '61. The Company as a whole, HQ , the Platoons, cooks and bottle washers, Wksps and all Establishment Vehicles and Stores made the move in '62 and therefore 112 Company RASC moved from Verden to Liebenau in 1962! There were still "Pads" still living in or around Verden for quite a while, I used to travel to and from twice a day picking them up and taking them home in my RL three (3) tonner. Still can't understand why I couldn't have temporary accomodation at Verden to save the early start and late finish every day. But hey ho, it was over forty years ago. Cyclops | |
