My dad, Walter James Austin, was at Gottingen with the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1951/52. He was transferred there from the Royal Ulster Rifles at Ballykinler.

Whilst with the Fusiliers he was the 'batman' to a Captain Truesdale.

Do any of these names mean anything? Are there any stories or photos you may have?

Many thanks

HI BIBLY,I WAS IN (c) COY.IN GOTTINGEN 51/52.
I LEFT THERE IN 52.FOR DEMOB.IN ARMAGH.JUST BEFORE THE REINFORCEMENTS WENT TO R.U.R.IN KOREA.
I DIDNT.KNOW YOUR DAD BUT I WAS ACTING COOK IN CO'S HOUSE WITH HIS BATMAN ALEX. KENT.HE WOULD HAVE KNOWN ALL THE OFFICERS BATMEN AT THAT TIME.
MOST OF NATIONAL SERVICEMEN AT THAT TIME WENT TO T.A.THE LONDON IRISH RIFLES..IF YOU CAN CONTACT THEM,IM SURE SOMEONE WOULD KNOW HIM.WORTH A TRY!THERE ARE NOT MANY OF US ABOUT NOW,BUT I'M STILL PROUD OF MY TIME WITH THEM.BEST WISHES TO YOU AND DAD.
REGARDS PAT.
