| Hi All, It's been quite some time since I last paid a visit to the forum.
I'd just like to wish everybody a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy New Year.
I don't know what its like where you live, but here in Leicester, once again, the Bratwurst Stall is up and running, in the city centre.
I'm still able to obtain a 4 pack of DAB from my local "Bargain Booze", to enable me to feel as though I was still serving in BAOR, back in the 50's.
It's nice, too, to stroll around our local Aldi and Lidl to see all the German Christmas "Goodies" they have to offer.
All the Best! | |

| May I also wish the many contributors and casual visitors to this splendid site a Happy Christmas and all the very Best in 2015
May we continue to record memories of a fast fading British Army presence in Germany and equally important help reunite or trace Family Friends who have served in BAOR

| Happy Xmas and New Year for 2015 from an auld cold war warrior, a 'Hero of this Nation' indulging in memories of those far off times in 'Happy Ever After Land' BAOR in the days when we used 'that Rifle' the one who is nameless, the SLR. Can you remember the typical Regimental Xmas morning 'gunfire' when the 'hofficers' and SNCOs would come round the billets with hot tea with a tot of rum to warm one's cockles, are act as a bit of a 'hair of the dog' for the previous nights debauchery in the NAAFI Bar or corporal's Mess. Can you remember them, and do you miss them, or has life taken its toll on us Crumblies after all those years of service for Queen and Country. It really is amazing to see Her Maj still going strong at 88, and The Old Duke at 90 something. As I no long drink the Amber Nectar nowadays, for health and religious reasons - having drunk my fill when young, daft and not so bright; I have decided being a sober, boring auld fart ain't as bad as it seems. As One shuffles towards three score years and ten next year, and having to renew one's Driving Licence, it make me wonder just where all those years of "glory" in BAOR and elsewhere have gone. It was only last year, 2013 that I was having a clear out of 'stuff' and chucked out an Army kitbag full of old tat - combats, boots, drawers cellular, socks, PT equipment etc - I'm sure that MoD don't want it back, and I won't have the RMP fellas or QM's staff knocking on my door demanding restitution and waving an AF 1157 in my face for stoppages any more. Anyway - here's to a prosperous 2015, it has to be after the past few years, and i still ain't the brightest candle in the box..... or is it Four Candles ... or ... Fork Handles...!! | |

| Hi Everyone
I have enjoyed the website over the years. Reading through the entry's I cant stop my mind flickering back to those long past days when I was a young soldier.. It does put a smile on my face, and a tear in my eyes thinking of long lost friends. To all, whether still serving or ex-servicemen I wish you a very happy Christmas and good health for the new year.
