| Subject: 627 MCTG Vehicle signs for Land Rover ambulance 20/6/2015, 09:10 | |
| Hi all,
Can anyone set me on track to find information about what signs were used for vehicles (Land Rover Ambulance to be precise) in service at the 627 MCTG?
More specific: the 627 Mobile Civilian Transport Group was stationed in Minden, Germany from 1965 performing all sorts of supporting tasks.
As I own an ambulance that served with that unit (1969-1971) I look to find as much information about this unit as I can.
I hope someone can help me out here, and any time and effort to contact me is highly appreciated!
Best regards! | |

| The unit number of 627 MCTG was 458. As 627 MCTG was an Army Group Troops unit, this number would have been painted in white on a black rectangular background. This would have been on the front and back right hand side of the vehicle (viewed from the front). The vehicle would also have a painted union jack on the opposite side, and probably a tac number in white, eg C8 if in C Sub Group. I hope this helps.

| Ot has been a while, but the image attached shows the only tactical sign I was able to find on the vehicle. On de left back door of the ambulance, standing behind it. There the union jack was situated, wit above "A 5". Form the contribution above I sum up that my vehicle should be marked with: "458" on the right back door, and according left side front bumper, standing in front of it. And "A 5" as mentioned on the left back door and accordingly on the right side front bumper. Vehicle served in A sub-group. | |
