What was the actual translation of the spoken German that Kennedy said.... was it "Ich bin einer Berliner?" or "Ich Berliner?"

I have heard that a 'Berliner' is a sort of jam donut. So did Kenedy really say that he was 'A Jam Don Shocked ut?" or is this just one the many Cold War myths that abound?

Luckily German bakers also stock Amerikaner and I have seen school kids getting a Negerkuss squashed into a dry bread roll!
