Hi Colombo1 , Hi Es, (We two know each other don't we!).
I'm no expert on Schleswig- Holstein but have a decent knowlege of the area.
Es and I go back sometime regarding her mum who was Interned at the Displaced Persons Camp, Neustadt, formerly The Kriegsmarine U Boat Training School' at Neustadt in Holstein.
Regarding the photo that Es has submitted. As as far as I know, it is from the DP Camp, Neustadt. Es's Mum, along with others were free to wander around on the beaches, town and surrounding area, so did the photo originate from another camp? There were plenty in the Schleswig area. Eckernforde alone had 20+ DP Camps. It could be any where along the coastline. Putlos and Oldenburg are near the sea.
I am nearly 100% sure this building in the photo is part of the Training School at Neustadt. The tallish pole at one end of the building, is infact, I think an electric cable support pole.
View the map of Neustadt I have posted. Similar buildings are close to the shore line beyond the building. I have marked the 1951 Map. Additionally, I have also marked the location of the Sports Field.
The Yellow marked buildings at the bottom left of the map, are in my opinion the same accomodation buildings.
Note the close coast line. Which is similar to that seen in the photo.
Photo of Major Ruston (Military Cross of 1 Commando Brigade. He was given the task to 'Sort the Place Out' . And he did!
This is a photo of the DP Camp in1945. The former Training School
Es's Mum did not remember the Major Ruston. After 4-6 weeks sorting the camp. 1. Commando, inc Major Ruston were recalled back to UK. They were to go to the Far East. The war there had not yet finished!
If I remember correctly? Es's Mum, Rosi, was in a Hospital at Eutin, where she was recovering from extensive shrapnel wounds from the Allied planes, which accidently bombed the train she was on along with many other Forced Labour Workers. On her release, Rosi was placed in requisitioned accomodation to recover. By the time Rosi joined her friends and many others in the DP Camp after the Major and his unit had left for UK.
I would like to add some relative information that not many are aware of? Along with many other Nationalities from the camp, was a presentation to Major Ruston from the Interned Norwegian Police Group as they were leaving for home.
Major Ruston recipricated with a gift of a bottle of whisky, on the understanding that the empty bottled was retained until he came for it! Many years later he did what he had promised and was reunited with one and only empty bottle.

Now for the Map marking of Putlos and the nearby amp. Note: the map X mark I have made at bottom/right indicates Oldenberg is not far away!
For the person who is interested in LUDWIGSBURG and WAABS , they are just up the coast a bit from Eckernfoerde
