I knew a Roy Thompson in that age group in 25 Regt RA but 25 never served in Dortmund - confirmed, it was the guy from 25 Fd Regt who had been posted to 1 ADSR, Herford. (25 RA went in to suspended animation in 1984 from Barker Barracks Paderborn, and those who were not transferred to 3 RHA, were posted out to extra-regimental posts (E2) and to other RA Regts). Roy Thompson had won a Queen's Commendation for Bravery award whilst serving in Malaya by saving a number of kids being swept away in a flood. His father (having served through the ranks in WW2) had been the QM of 24 Msl Regt.

You will find a reduced size photo of S/Sgt thompsons grave at Tidworth.
The link also gives you the choice to download a much larger photo, which shows all his details.
You can order and pay for the larger photo via the Link. If I remember correctly, I think it is sent to your email address should you choose?
