| I was posted to 657 Sqn AAC at Bournemouth Barracks Soltau in April 1973 and we were operating Sioux helicopters but by April 1975 we had changed to Gazelle. Here is a photo of the unit dispersal inside the barracks. | |

| 7th Battalion Hampshire Regiment command 130th Infantry Brigade of 43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division arrived in Kavallerie Kaserne later Bournemouth Barracks Soltau Oct 45 and remained there until moving to Berlin Mar 46, before Jul 46 when 7th Queen’s Own Hussars RAC moved in from Italy, they moved to the UK Dec 47, the barracks were in very poor condition and required extensive renovation before HQ 7th Armoured Brigade moved in 1949 from the Kurpark in Bad Lippspringe. As the historic county of Bournemouth is Hampshire feel sure this is how the barracks got the name. https://britisharmyingermany.com (under construction) | |
