| Can others remember Wolgang who used to run the mobile chippy van on the training area? Many a time have I seen Wolfgang's van advancing through the smoke from the heat of mock battle and a load of squaddies jumping out of trenches for their brattie and chips. |

| A bit "Off Topic" but at 20 Bde we had a brattie van who'd do exactley the same. Didn't matter where we were located on Exercise, but he would find us. Once he got to a location before us. LOL | |

| I read on www.arrse.co.uk that Wolfgang was alive and well and living in Spain. I reckon Wolfgang has legendary status amongst the old and bold who where in BAOR and went to Soltau. I worked with a guy in civvi strasse who was in a Cavalry unit early 90s...we used to have good laugh about Soltau and Wolfgang and his Bratty Wagon...ding a ling ding a ling.....I here him now! | |

| In all seriousness, who did Wolfgang work for?
Was it himself, Red Shield, YMCA?? I would like an idea.

| Come on guys! Surely someone has a photo of Wolfgang?
To be truthful his legend goes before him! I never met him or saw his van in my many years in BAOR.
Maybe the 175mm Guns fired their rounds from 20 Kms away? Way out off Wolfgang's circuit!
My watering place for the SummerCamps (non tactical) etc with 32 Hvy RA Workshop Reme, was a pub in Bispingen. Can't remember the name of the pub! Lovely blonde bar maid and her desirable mum. This was circa 1967. That place made a mint out of us 32 Workshop guys.

| I thought he was a miserable beggar but you couldn't get rid of him. How the hell he got his brockie wagon across land that I have seen panzers have trouble with, I have no idea.
He'd come driving into your 'hide', toot his horn, and squaddies would rush out.
I bet the officers used to fume.
