First post on here so definitely reaching up to touch the bottom rung!
My father was RMP Krefeld 1955-58 but I don't know the name of the barracks. Anyone help me with that please? We had married quarters in the Cabbage Patch. I don't suppose anyone remembers that cul-de-sac do they or even had quarters there at the same time?
Many thanks, Coinneach

Hi
Not a lot to see at Krefeld the main RMP place was probably Duesseldorf (centred on the airfield) and any at Krefeld were localised patrols or individuals(families moved out to MQs:
103 Provost Company RMP . . Germany: Dusseldorf
https://www.baor-locations.org/krefeld.aspx.html https://www.baor-locations.org/bradburybks.aspx.html anglo german club, twinned with Leicester
The Barracks were: Krefeld (year in brackets when handed back) Bradbury Barracks (GB, 2002) Haynes Barracks (GB, 1989) Linn Barracks (GB, 1991) Trasnmitter Station / Sendeanlage Horstdyk (GB, 1993) SA Firing Range / Schießstand Hülser Bruch (GB, 1997)
from time to time there is mention of Milne Barracks quite possible the name given to the RN Stone Frigate - HMS Royal Albert in industrial premises beside the Rhein,

I believe I lived in Kemper Allee in Krefeld in 1958 for about 6 months. I would have been about9 and had a sister a couple of years younger. I think the address was 92c. We were very friendly with a Welsh RMP family who lived close by. My parents were also Welsh and my father was the Chaplain to the Signals for the few months we lived there .

Good Morning Ann,
Welcome, I presume you are searching for the RMP Family? Wish you luck.
Someone might have a link to those years. We often get browsers who are not members . Maybe that route may spring a memory from the past?

Have been researching the early days of BAOR for some time now and discovered numerous errors recorded on https://www.baor-locations.org/Home.aspx.html so offer the following for barracks in Krefeld in the early days as my research is only up to Mar 49 for now.
Neue Kaserne later Bradbury Barracks Krefeld Delete: 1st Bn York and Lancaster Regiment + 1st Bn Manchester Regiment as both in Wuppertal
Aug 45 – 31 Reinforcement Holding Unit Jan 46 – redesignated 121 Transit Camp Jun 46 to Jul 46 – 4th Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry Jul 46 to Aug 46 – 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment (Machine Gun) Nov 48 – 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh’s) from UK Apr 50 – 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards from UK
Kavallerie (Alt) Kaserne later Haynes Barracks Krefeld Delete: 2nd Bn Grenadier Guards in Wuppertal to Nov 47 + 1st Bn Wiltshire Regiment in Bradbury Barracks
Aug 45 to May 46 – 7th Royal Tank Regiment RAC May 46 to Jun 46 – 4th Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry Jul 46 to Aug 46 – Company of 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment (Machine Gun) Aug 46 to Mar 48 – 27/28 Medium Battery of 7th Medium Regiment RA – redesignated 98 Medium Battery of 32nd Medium Regiment RA 1 Apr 47 Mar 48 to Nov 48 – 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh’s) – amalgamated with 1st Battalion Nov 48 Believe the barracks were unofficially named “Milne” there being a high ranking offer of that name, however cannot confirm.
BAOR Locations cannot be amended at this time, pleased to say now in touch with Mike Royal Signals who is willing to restart on building a new website, watch this space for more details!

Good evening Ann,
Many thanks for your message and for awaking my memory with the name of Kempener Allee. I couldn't remember its name as we always referred to it as the Cabbage Patch We must be the same age as I turned nine whilst there in the spring of 1958 but we left to return to the UK a few days later, so I'm not sure whether we over-lapped or whether we had left before you arrived. Do you remember the names of any of the teachers at the BFES school?
I'm sorry that I can't help you with the Welsh family you're looking for. I'm Scots and don't recall any Welsh friends.
Nice to have a wee blether and touch the past.
Best wishes, Coinneach
