Anyone know Capt C Maynard, REME, Duisburg 1958-61?

He is my grandfather...I am travelling close to Duisburg this summer and thought I would visit, but it seems Glamorgan Barracks has all been demolished? I saw a post on this website with some wonderful pictures.

So then I thought I'd chance my luck and post on here, see if anyone knew of my grandad back in the day, would be wonderful to hear anything!

Hello, I didn't serve there, but knew of the barracks, which appear to have gone. BAOR locations (not to be mistaken for BFG locations) have a decent page on the barracks, which (like everywhere in Germany I served) appears to be no more:

I used my Google Earth software, which ended up looking at some form of civilian organisation, with older buildings that resemble the sort of buildings that were commonly used by BAOR:

Some buildings in the locality resemble the sort of MQs and military buildings that I remember from my time out there.

We tended to be in old SS barracks and the like, as I discovered when I investigated HQ 1Div (where I worked in the 1970s) and our signal regiment.

Almost all of it has been torn down, and perhaps a touch hastily, since the defence situation has almost reverted to what prevailed during the cold-war.
