REME in Germany 1958

I am looking for information on what the REME was doing in Germany in 1958.

I don't know where my Dad, Desmond Squires, was based, except that he was near Hamburg.

My Dad never talked about Germany and basically refused to talk about it except to say after what he saw in Germany there was no God.

If anyone can help me with any information, I would be very grateful.

There are a number of contributors to this site who are familiar with the Hamburg area and REME in particular who may be able to help (my father was in REME and was stationed in the market town of Rotenburg thirty miles south west of Hamburg in the mid fifties), I was at school at Ploen seventy miles north of Hamburg for four years and passed through Hamburg on the school train at the begining/end of every school term.

It would be helpful if you could persuade your father to tell you where exactly he was stationed or ideally the unit he was posted to. I sure that one of the "experts" will then respond.
