| Sadly 54 Sqn RCT are missing from the role at this barracks I served at St George's from 79-82 before the Sqn then moved to Lubbecke just up the road | |

| Steve,
As you can see, the site is very much work in progress, and bits and pieces of information such as you mention are very welcome.
On a quick look-see it seems that 54 Sqn have quite a history, and were in Minden at some stage as 54 Engineer Support Squadron RASC in the 1950's.
If you have any details such as dates the Sqn was in BAOR/BFG, or know where they can be found, please let us know.
Paul. | |

In 1914 it became a prisoner-of-war camp In 1936 "Peschke Flugzeugwerkstätten Gmbh Minden" was foundet in Minden to repair airplains
In 1945 the brit. force take over the area for the St. Georges Barracks. But at the westend area the "Stark Turbulent" was build by "Radio Stark"
In 1983 the helicopter hanger was build by the Brittish
And in 1994 the Brittish leave the area

I think you will find Hoppy that it was first produced in 1957. I hope this picture works for you, click on the link below! If you Google Stark Turbulant you will find a lot of details there. Good luck. Oh as a passing thought I was at St Georges Barracks with 12 Sqn RCT 1981-84...Good times hic hic.

| The three squadrons in 4 Div tpt Regt were 11,19 and 54 Sqns. There was no 76 wksp, the regimental wksp was known as 4 Armd Div Tpt Regt Wksp REME. I was the OC of the Wksp in 1977/78. The Ordnance Coys mentioned were not part of the Regt nor were they in St Georges Bks at that time, it may have changed later. | |

| In 1970 I was posted to Kingsley Barracks. I was in the signals and as such my trade a liney we had a driver from 54Sqn RCT attached to the Signal Squadron and our detachment. One driver and a 3 man Royal Signal crew. One Corporal and two bods. All I can remenber of this RCT driver was he was a faired haired Geordie....He would have been RTU about 1972 when all Royal Signals personal had to go through driver training as such I did and pasted my driving test. Never forget my first Land Rover 28EK43 no doubt this Geordie RCT fella drove the same vehicle. | |
