Anybody served in 5 Inf W/shops Witten-Annen in the late fifties, would like to hear from you, particularly the guy that used to I remember walk up and down the stairs on this hands feet in the air, he was I think an ex-boy.

Mikey,

I decided to put your photograph on to your "5 Inf" post. Hope you don't mind!

5 Inf. Workshops Witten-Annen 5_inf10

5 Inf Workshops in Witten-Annen, the photo was taken from the accommodation block during, I believe an Admin Parade in the winter of 1956/7, the building in the background is the workshops etc.

Mikey

I can see Bedford QL's, Austin K9's, a Morris water bowser, Scammell recovery trucks, a couple of Fordsons (V8 engine by any chance?), and a Commer Q4(?). But what are the fourth from right and the two on the far left of the front row? And is that possibly an AEC, middle row fourth from right?

It looks like what I would have known as a CES check ("Pliers Sidecutting 6 inch - deficient. But they were there this morning Sarge!!!). Any more like that Mikey??

Oh!! the memories when I was "asked" to work on the QL in 2Fd RA (30YY04 Office Truck - I can still remember it) affraid What a Face

Paul.

Paul, the Commer third from the right in the front row was signed out to me, the fourth from the right is an Austin Gantry truck K4 model designation I think, the two vehicles far left in the front row look to me like, far left Morris Commercial flat nose later replaced by the Austin K9, the second is an American White Half Track but I could be wrong, but I do remember though on rough ground the steering was a swine.

The memories are starting to come back like driving the Commer up to Heidelberg Castle, on a scheme(exercise) lying in a ditch in the snow waiting to be told the Paras were going to attack us, my mate being put on a charge for leaving his rocket launcher leaning against a tree when he had a "slash".

I don't have any more photos of Germany, I wasn't into photography in those days.

Hello guys, just wondering would any of you know my grandad. His names Arthur Turner may have been a full screw at the time, he always tells me stories and I know he was based in Witten Annen. I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan at the moment but I'll let him know of any replies when I'm home Smile thanks
