| Have just purchased 'A Short History of the 5th Infantry Brigade' out of print book from 1965 very comprehensive and mentions 1 Bn Royal Lincolnshire Regt being part of the Brigade but other our scoures do not mention this…one states Nov 51 to Jun 54 Goslar with 91 Lorried Inf Bde another same but Jun 52 to Jun 64 then Berlin…Mons Barracks Iserlohn appears ‘empty’ from Feb 51 when 1 Bn Kings (Liverpool) Regt left until Nov 52 when 1 Bn Royal Leicestershire Regt arrived…have trawled the internet without confirmation can anybody help? Cheers Steve | |

| Hi Steve,
I cannot help you with some of the information you require here, but I am able to tell you that the Royal Lincs were in the Fliegerhorst Kaserne Goslar, (Manchester Barracks) in 1953.
As a schoolboy in the CCF were stayed a week with the Lincs and took part in exercises and visits to Goslar and Bad Harzburg.
I attach a photo of our departure from Goslar station, dated April, 1953.
I hope this helps in some way.
Sorry.... cannot get into Serving Com. See under 'Locations' Goslar, and photo taken at Goslar station. Bill | |

| Hi Bill, did not get a positive reply from www.thelincolnshireregiment.org just an automated reply pointing me in the direction of museum records...for the time being have recorded them in Mons Barracks until finding out different, thanks again Steve | |

| Hi Steve,
Possibly a bit of 'useless information' but if you look at the photo again of the corporal standing at Goslar bahnhof he has on his shoulder the 'Black Bull' patch.
This was used by the 11th Armoured Division in WW2 and could it be that the Royal Lincs were still attached in 1953?
Cheers, Bill | |

| 11 Armd Div was reformed in 1950 and the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment were part of 91 Lorried Inf Bde if records correct (lots of errors out there) they were replaced by the Royal Berkshire Regiment Jun 54, Cheers Steve | |
