| This is sad to see...mind you, I understand at least one of the churches in the old barracks at Deilinghofen was converted to an architect's office or some such but the others were, apparently, allowed to go derelict. There is so little left of the Canadian and British military presence in Deilinghofen, Hemer, Iserlohn, Werl or Soest and few memories amongst the population. At least the Belgiques have a museum in Soest to commemorate their time there. There is only a plaque on the side of the Soest Ratshaus to commemorate the 19 years the Canadians were there and nothing that I know of to commemorate the 22 years the British were. To see this attractive little church turn to rubble is very sad. Stephen Lock Calgary, Alberta, Canada calgaryfella1953@hotmail.com | |
