Double Diamond was a young mans drink and then you grew up and realised it was crap. Black Label i.e. Carling is not a Yank drink. You must be confusing it with something else. First time I drank it was 1/10d. Less than 10p. Amazing really but I was only on about 11 quid a week.

When I first started going into pubs a pint of mild was one and a penny. That works out around six "p" methinks.

Y'know, I remember Double Diamond being a nice drink, (I certainly remember it being preferable to Heineken and Amstel). Trouble was it used to give me ferocious hangovers, there could be a warning there ! Watneys Red Barrel though, was so outrageously crappy that it sparked off the beginnings of the Campaign for Real Ale.
