That Mc Ewans was nice stuff.

In the 60s the cans used to have a picture of a scantily clad girl on them. We used to keep the whole range and stand them on our bedside lockers. Not for long though, they were gone before the morning room inspection ! Mad

So we are all agreed then, most beers in cans those days were crap. Think someone hit the nail on the head when they spoke about them being warm (hot?). This was before we became sophisticated and got used to cold beer as prescribed by all the best German hostelry's.

Gang of us were on a train from London heading North once. Can't for the life of me remember where we had been but probably going back to Catterick? Little foreign guys gets on the train and we get chatting (piss taking) as you do and eventually he gets a dirty great case down off the rack, and much to our amazement opens it to reveal it full of booze samples. i.e. Spanish port, sherry, brandy and other alcoholic drinks from a well known Spainish company. He kindly allowed us to sample them until the case was empty then started getting a bit narky as these Latins tend to do after a pint or so. We laughed and bought him a can of McKewans (warm) in compensation.

I often wonder what he used to try and sell his products with no samples? drunken
