| When I left UK, I think we sold our house in Northampton for £3000. God knows what it would be worth these days. [/quote] Evening all from Sunny (ish) Cyprus, it's taken me three and a half weeks to get on here, hope I haven't been passed over for promotion? Les, about £2000 I should think!! | |

There was a bunch of MPSC located in The Kesh when we were there.
Never figured out why but they were nice blokes. A friend of mine transferred to the MPSC, we were stationed in Colchester at the time and he wanted a bit of continuity in life. Most of the guys that I met were good lads. | |

| When I was with the QOH, one of my lads, a VM, did a spell in MCTC Colchester, came back a much better soldier and was quite enthusiastic about the military training he received there. He also decided he wanted serve as a 'soldier' and not as a tradesman so transferred into the QOH and was immediately made the Sqn Ldr's tank driver, very seldom had problems with that callsign.

| As I said before my old man was in the MPSC in Gibraltar, Colchester and Shepton Mallett nicks. Probably did about 6 years in MPSC other 20 ior so years in Infantry, Northamptons, East Anglians.
My old man was a tough bugger, no doubt caused by years working in the Army nicks. They must have been rugged places.
I was born in Colchester in 1948 whilst my old man was attached to the Nick. Plessey Married Quarters in Colchester we lived in. Anyone remember them? Not there when last in UK 2004, all gone. A nice MOD copper took me around Colchester Garirson in his Land Rover after I introduced myself. |

| A bunch of us were posted to Colchester in '64, we joined 2nd Light Regt who were in wooden buildings in Roman Way camp. (About 6 months later they moved to newly-renovated Kirkee Mc Munn Bks). Some of us were allocated married quarters in Lethe Grove, very close to the MCTC and backing on to Friday Woods. The flats were brand new and built to accommodate the MPSC staff. We often thought it curious that there were'nt many MPSC to be seen in the area, then the first electricity bills rolled in and all became clear ! | |

| 3 Military Corrective Establishment was located in Mossbank Barracks, Bielefeld, from 1946 -58. After this those for retraining and return to their units were sent to Colchester, those for discharge and imprisonment in civvy prisons were sent to Shepton Mallet. As has been stated all those sentenced to more than 28 days go to the one remaining MCTC at Colchester. | |

| My mate had a broom handle on the end of which he had fixed a rubber washing up glove, all fingers folded exept for the index fingre which was sticking out. tis he had filled with plaster. he could then sit in his arm chair and pock the stick at the TV and change channels without having to get up. he was thrilled when he got his first TV with a remote. Connected by wire in those days, but at least you didnt loose the bloody thing. my dog once ate one of our remotes. after that yiou had to pick up the dog, point him at the TV and squeeze his nuts to change channels !!!!!! | |

| As if the wired remotes were not bad enough they then brought out ultra sonic, if you only knew how many times I was called for the TV playing up only to find something as simple as the dog shaking (metal tag on collar) people with keys on belt or baby shaking things, luckily in those days it was mainly channel change and volume but when it keeps changing with no apparent reason

| I remember that Les, we had one of the first TVs with remote, would be around '77, when I dropped the dogs chain lead the telly would change channels (much to the kids annoyance), I never knew that it was ultra sonic. | |
