| I served in 654 Light Aircraft Squadron in Tofrek Barracks July 1959 to March 1962. Whilst there I was re-badged from Royal Artillery to Army Air Corps. This included a powder puff blue beret which, we were assured, would pull all the girls! Not so I noticed! I was the Chief Clerk but we had REME, RAF and Navy mechanics to service the Auster fixed wing and Skeeter helicopters. 1RHA occupied the other part of the barracks. | |

| Hi
Yes! I remember you lads well. or at least, there were AAC up at top camp. On one or two occasions we paid a visit to you at the top camp and actualy had a quick intro to helicopter flights. Our last visit was just before we handed over to 32 Regt RA and we returned Blighty prior to our Aden posting.
All the time I was there (63 - 64/5) I could never work out where all the German lads who used to came running in the main gate (in squads) and disapeared up toward you lot at the top camp. Always thought they had come from the Gerry Tank camp down the road opposite the 'halfway house pub'
