| Thanks for all the information and feedback, its been great. I never thought I would have received so much details. Its been very insteresting to find out about all the locations and to read up on the DUKW's. Iam glad that the photos were of interest to you. I found out yesterday that my Dad was involved in the Suez Crisis which I have been reading up on. I also knew he was part of the Berlin airlift and that there is a monument to commemorate those who were involved - which I plan to visit on my trip to Germany in September.
I looked out the small card again that I had found - it has the RASC crest on it along with the Service number, Rank, Name and date of 30th Aug 1950. The card states - This card is to remind you that you are a fully paid member of the RASCA untill 31st December of the year in which you leave the Service. The Annual Subscription for membership is 2s. 6d. and the first payment will be due on 1st January next after release. It then goes on to list all the RASCA Branches. I am a little confused by this as I thought the Army paid you not the other way round - hope someone can enlighten me.

The same thing happened to us Gunners, compulsory membership of the RA (Royal Artillery) Association !

| It cost us a days pay when serving for life membership of the RSA...Not compulsory, but very hard to avoid..With hindsight it was well worth it. |

| Hi again, its been a while as I have been waiting on my dads service records coming through, which took a year as they are so busy. I was a little dissapointed with the information that I received as it doesnt show many location for training or barrack details ect. So was hoping someone might be able to help. The first dates I have are- 23/05/1949 - 336 T T Coy RASC 30/06/1949 - 78 Coy where he embarked for BAOR - Ithink this was when he was involved in the Berlin Airlift 20/08/1950 - 721 Coy RASC & SOS BAOR x(viii) A List 06/12/1956 - 167 Coy RASC/AER - looks like he was involved in the Suez Crisis 31/03/1967 - posted to 264 Amph Sqn He also went to Bedford for lots of training - can anyone confirm if that was fremington? There are lots of other dates ect but I would most be grateful for any information on the above. | |

Welcome back
Regarding the list of units
I think 336 TT Company may stand for Trade Training Company
Can't identify any of the BAOR locations yet but Steve and I have a mass of oustanding data to sift through.
If he was involved with the TA Amphibious Squadron then it would have been Fremington Camp Barnstaple not Bedford where the unit carried out many of their Summer Camps.
