It could be, Tom, it could be.
The BAOR and BFPO numbers are on a page of their own here:-
It is thought that the BFPO system did not come into effect until 1957, so there could be a difference there. There is reference to 115 Company being in the Hook from 1954, but we have no other details at present. Do you have any, by chance?
Paul.

hi Paul, BFPO was up and running in 1954/55 when i was at the Hook, But I'm sorry I've no other details, I left the army in 1956 and my home camp in Kettwig changed it's post number but for the life of me i can not remember sorry! Tom.

Hi all,
Each BFPO had at least one post office manned by Royal Enginners These units used "Field Post Office" circular date stamps, with a number at the bottom which was not the BFPO number Anyone have list of the field post offices and numbers? This list would have included field post offices throughout the world, and may have even started in WW1?
Cheers Tony

Dave, I know that the BFPO No for Bielefeld was 39 - did it extend to Minden or was that 29, not sure?

British Forces Post Office
In the immediate post war era facilities for both official and private mail to and from the UK as well as internally within BAOR were the responsibility of the Royal Engineers Postal Services organisation. Within the British Zone the equivalent of the modern Post Code system was introduced with BAOR numbers being allocated to every major Garrison or RAF Station. Mail for the subordinate or outlying units was redistributed from these nodal points. JPW BAOR 1 - Bad Oeynhausen/HQ BAOR
AACHEN, BAD SALZUFLEN, BRITISH TROOPS BELGIUM, BUNDE, GOTTINGEN, HAMM, HILDEN, HUSUM, ITZEHOE, MUNSTERLAGER, SOLTAU, WOLFENBUTTEL, WUPPERTAL
In 1957 the current world wide system of BFPO numbers was first introduced to British Forces based in Germany. This necessitated some changes to the previous BAOR numbers to both avoid duplication and reflect the major reorganisations being implemented throughout the former British Zone of Germany. JPW
(1) The reason for this was some silly idea of security when 47 Fd Regt RA moved into Mansergh Bks. The idea was that the BFPO number and the unit shouldn't have the same number, despite the fact that the address would have both the BFPO number and the unit title on the envelope.
1) The sequence BAOR 7, BAOR 17, BAOR 27 and BAOR 37 were never used to avoid confusion surrounding the handwritten English and German style figures 1 and 7.
2) Bad Eilsen/ HQ RAF (G) originally BAOR 1? Allocated separate Post Code in 19?? due to volume of mail.
3) HQ BAOR/HQ RAF (G) moved from Bad Oeynhausen/Bad Eilsen to Rheindahlen in 1954 and were reallocated to BAOR 40.

Welcome, what a magnificent contribution
You don't by chance have the details of the system in use between 1947 and 1952 involving BAOR rather than BFPO numbers?

Thank you but if you look carefully you will see your reference is a transcript of my original contribution to be still found off the site main, not forum, page.
There were gaps then, still more now following Steve and my ongoing researches into the 1945-48 period of BAOR
Ultimately I would love to produce of BAOR era post codes for the period 1947--52 in a similar format to Cynic's contribution but that is a long way off yet and may never be completed.

What happened to B.F.P.O. 33?
It used to be Bad Harzburg, Goslar but was later Hannover and area including Wölfenbuttel.
I expect it closed in the early 1990's when the R.A.C. recce unit was withdrawn.

jimsigs1,
Yes. I believe 33 was officially listed as Hannover but it covered a wide area including the old rest centres at Bad Harzburg and the barracks at Goslar and STC Silberhutte I think and may have extended to the Border crossing at Helmstedt although that was also covered by Berlin as most of the RMP and REME seemed to be based there.
This simple topic of B.F.P.O.'s seems to have generated lots of interest and correspondence and all interesting. I have seen some published lists but none as detailed as the ones listed above.
