I lived in Heinrich Heine Str., the first quarter on the left as you came round the end of the sports field. I was there with 2LI, and when they left for Ballykinler, became part of LAD att. 1RWF. During an open day with 2LI, they ran a contest called "Beat the Bugle", C/Sjt Pete Broadhead and I, mounted on BSA B40s, had to try and ride from the sports field, up through the woods to the Bismarck Turm, and back, with a message, before the message could be passed by the Bugles. Did we succeed? Hardly...but it was fun. We also took on the RMP, them on horseback, us on bikes carrying a pillion with a lance, at tentpegging. we managed to draw that one, if memory serves me correctly!

Hello Ursula, I was stationed in Stornaway Barracks with 1st Battalion The Light Infantry for their full tour in Lemgo,I knew your father well he was a good man.My job was battalion photographer and I was called out of bed on the day of your fathers accident,I had to take photographs of the Opel Manta and also the location of the accident on the back road.It was a very sad day for everyone in the battalion, Dusty Miller was driving the car and also lost his life, this was very unusual as your father would not let anyone drive his car normally.Mick Friel was in the back seat and was badly injured and Paddy Morrow escaped with minor injuries, some said he was either in the boot or ended up there.I think Paddy runs a bar somewhere in Spain or at least he was years ago.If you look on Facebook there is a group on there under 1LI where lots of lads post, we also have a web site called Lightinfantryreunited where a lot of lads who knew your father post messages. I am on Facebook under Brian William Sheridan. Take care. Brian.

I was there from 75-77 with 2LI as a single living in buckshee, we moved from accommodation blocks opposite Sp Offices to the Rattle accommodation under the Gym whilst block refurbishment went on, a few of us lads played football for Jimmy's Bar, also the Queens Jubilee Parade in Sennelager and the sports day on the Lemgo sportsfield, plenty of fond memories.

Jimmy's daughter sent me an old photo from the pubs football team which we think was about your time.
Kind regards
