I was born in Rinteln 1964, my brother two years previous. Dad was in the Signals, but not sure what regiment. In July I will be driving through the area and hope to stop off and see BMH Rinteln. I understand it is now an Old Peoples home. Any info I might need to make the visit worthwhile would be greatly appreciated if any one has been there recently. I hope also to visit Bad Salzuflen, where we lived.

Just Google... Lebenshilfe Rinteln.. and you should find some info + photos.
I was there last month (Rinteln) with Kendal Concert Band . great place -- even nicer now with pedestrianisation in town. The locals are ever so proud of the BMH association.

Hi All,
I was born In Munster 1965. Father was in 9/12th. We were stationed at Detmold for five years, 1970-1975. Also at Minden, Kingsley Barracks. I remember BMH Rinteln, I attended PRS. I retuned in 2004 and noticed vast changes with most bases where my father was stationed. We are returning this year, July, my daughter has obtained a w- ork placement at PRS - think I've brainwashed my children.
We will be spending three weeks taking loads of photo's, a lot of memories to gather and I'll post them on my return - I hope they will bring back memories for all that served there. Regards

Hi Johnboy,
never did the crosscountry, though I remember representing the school in the national athletics at schalke's old stadium. Also remember nearly smashing my head open trying the triple jump, next to the canopy, on the playground.
Can never remember the gym teachers name, remember he was small and had a beard/tasch.
I do remember the monument - totally no idea on it's dedication though.

Never understood this one, I know we followed the English Syllabus, however.... In all my time in Germany, 13 years, was never taught German at school. scratch . There was no English tele at that time, I learnt German from TV and speaking with other kids - it's ironic that I speak fluent German but was never taught it in Germany. Remember the language room, felt like isolation...

I remember the running track, on grass, was on the right side of the road, going into Rinteln and the football/rugby field was on the left... Sandpit was also on this side for the longjump

I did a spell in BMH Rinteln, having an op on one of my legs, my wife attended PRS in Rinteln when it moved from Wilhelmshaven. She lived in Herford with her parents and that's where we met. Whilst in BMH Rinteln, one chap who could actually walk went out one day and hired a porn video tape which he showed that night in the ward across the corridor from ours. He was caught by the Matron and was disciplined the following day by the staff holding CO's Orders at his bedside. I'd never seen that before and found it quite amusing!
