| Whilst browsing though some old posts I noticed Fallingbostel mentioned a few times, in this years(2009) REME calendar there is a photo of REME marching though Fallingbostel with bayonets fixed with the caption " Exercising the Freedom of Fallingbostel " lead by a Major so I guess there must still be a workshop there, anyone got any info on this? Looking at the photo I have to say that in my opinion the current No.1 dress does not look as smart and well presented as the old BD, beret, belt and gaiters did. | |

Mikey, Could you possibly scan that page for me please? And any details that might be connected to it? Could it be 7 Close Support Company REME who are still in Fallingbostel? Paul.

Au contraire, I think the present day No1 dress looks extremely smart, I got married in the said attire and looked the dogs danglers even if I say so myself.
Although back in the day the old BD did look good.

| Paul, when I say No1 Dress I meant kharki not "Blues" i'm a bit out of touch with the current dress designation, as a matter of interest there is someone wearing "blues" he can just be seen to the rear left of the photo looks like he is carrying the colours.
I've scanned the photo but I have a problem uploading, the last time I posted a photo I sent it to you, can't remember how though.

| Hi recymech, sorry got a bit confused still i'm old enough to have a " senior moment", my last post covered covered both yours and Paul's. Many years ago back in Aden I was part of a reccy mech crew and we had a bizarre recovery job, a 3 tonner had knocked a camel cart off the road which we had to recover, the camel was dead so of course so we left it there, but, the camel disappeared overnight, probably ended up on the menu as steak at The Blue Bay Cafe, the steaks there always were always strange colour and we had often joked that it was camel meat. | |

Did the 3 Tonner run the camel over lol, reminds me of when I hit a sheep in Otterburn last year with my Foden, it wasn't much fun pulling sheep guts off my front axle.

| No the truck hit the cart which threw the whole lot off the Little Aden Causeway seem to remember this was about six foot high, must have been quite sight when it happened, when we went out we had visions of bringing the camel back hanging on the Scammell. | |
