| Then there was a mate of ours , who used to join us down town regularly in a pub, and was amazed that every time he came to that pub it was always 10.20 pm, by the clock on the wall. That is, until it was pointed out to him that the 'clock' on the was was really a Barometer. |

| Log book in the radio detachment, thankfully was written in pencil. I took over shift at 2359 hrs. The Op coming of shift wrote in on turn over, " Det. Commander taking over, appears to be sober." Little prick, he's dead now. Yes I erased it and No I didn't help his demise out. | |

My mother, or somebody, used to always say 'you can't be cute/goodlooking AND smart; it's one or the other'....one can only hope this particular squaddie was cute/goodlooking because it sure appears he wasn't the brightest bulb in the room!! On the subject of the 24-hour clock...I still 'count up' from 1200hrs (noon) if I am looking at, say, something that reads 1900hrs (7pm for any civvies). That there was no 0000hr was something I wasn't aware of....I suppose it's kind of like there never being a year 0 which, of course, leads to all sorts of folks thinking the New Century is 2000 when actually, no, 2000 is the last year of the old century and 2001 is the first year of new, so the New Millennium kicked in New Year's Eve 2000/2001. It gets very confusing...

| Of course 0000hr exists! Watch your clock/your watch/PC/Atomic clock. They all stop at this time, exactly like all the other 59 minutes!
If your time keeper doen't stop at that point? Then send it back for a refund!

Jesus, discipline's tough in the Canadian Army ! Well the little lad got out in 67. We heard various rumours about him but nothing definite. So about 2 years ago I was getting rid of old pictures and mailing them out to those concerned. I tracked down his sister-in-law. Apparently booze/drugs got him around 1972. Ti's a shame but some of the lads can't handle life. Here's to you Yosh. Hope you have found peace.

If your time keeper doen't stop at that point? Then send it back for a refund! No-one is saying that 00:00 doesn't actually exist, merely that the Army doesn't acknowledge the fact. Incidently, what day/date is it at exactly 00:00? Mike

Mike Careful mjm34, that might lead us into a black hole It could possibly lead one into a time space where RSM's and wheedling little L/Cpls have no power.

Well, I reckon if one says 24:00! Then it is the day before 00:00.
Simples to work out which day we mean now. Or is it?

| There used to be a 4-Faced clock on the top of 6 Field Workshop Admin building in Buller Bks. The Guards next door used to lok through their barrack room windows and take their timing from the dial facing their barracks, but very often they would turn up on the parade square a few minutes late, because the clock was running slow. One night the Guards climbed on top of the workshop roof and painted all four faces of the clock in their Blue/Red/Blue regimental colours. A compromise was reach. Two of the clock faces were blanked out. One on one side facing directly towards, the 6 Field Wksp, and the other on the opposite side facing the Guards barracks were left, with each side responsible for the maintenance of its side of the clock. |
