As I said, dandc, "an incomprehensible game, designed to baffle Pongos" !!

"Pusser" is what the Matelots call the Purser isn't it, shipmates ?

(Yo ho ho!)

A quick question, dandc, you being of the AAC persuasion. How come there was a great big Canadian flag painted on the AAC hangar in Long Kesh ?

I've still got the glass tankard with Fussball weltmeistershaft 1974 on it.

Think the two characters were Tip and Tap?

Missed the 1974 World Cup in Germany as I was back in Catterick by then. However I was over there during the 1970 World Cup (Mexico, 2-0 up against Germany and lost it).

Certainly stopped us from jibing the Germans with the chant "2 World Wars and a World Cup". jocolor

I remember the clip from the TV sitcom 'What Ever Happened to the Likely Lads'. Terry (James Bolam) had just return to the UK after being in the army in Germany and had been married to a German girl. He had watched the 1970 match with her family and at the finish the excitment was such that he thought they were rready to march on Poland again.
