| hi steve,as i remember we arrived in munster in may 79,stationed in swinton barracks and i think we left for hohne at christmas 81 and troy there should be an indicator next to the air-cleaner to tell you if it is blocked. the cut-away version of the fox in the tank museum doesnt have an indicator because it used to be in the model hall in the driving and maintainance wing at bovington and i needed the indicator so i borrowed it for a lesson on my d+m instructors course and left it in the hanger for the next course to use, i think challenger II use the same indicators but dont quote me on it. | |

| the fox is looking good, brings back a lot of memories.there should be a single air pipe coming from the air cleaner body, when its blocked the side of the indicator turns red,to reset it, it has a rubber pad on top to push in | |

Good to know your new toy as arrived safely and you are progresssing well in bringing it back to full working order
Intigued by the TAC sign on the front mud guard which looks like a black spanner on a red/blue diagonal square. Do you know the origins?
Was also amused by the handsome Alsatian. If you have any Polish/Jugoslav friends you could add further authenticity by getting them to dress in the dark blue battledress of the MSO (Mixed Services Organisation) who often provided the Guard Force to many in British Barracks in BAOR | |

| The "bent spanner" is from a UK group called C.O.V.E.S....Coventry Old Vehicle Engineering Society, a group of AFV enthusiasts. Finally finished the painting on Basil and will have him mech fixed tommorow. Will be on the road Wednesday. Will get some more pics for you all soon. Was there anything really commonly carried on the Fox...don't say a tow rope | |

| hi troy, i dont know if i,m teaching you to suck eggs but when we worked on them, we always took the engine decks off and the rear armour off and also the velloutte(might be the wrong spelling)casing off, remembering to put the rubber doughnut back in before reassembly. | |

| Yeah I did tell the mech that Basil may bite him...well he learnt We found compatiable carbie components from a 1977 Mitsubishi Gallant, all except the altimeter needle, the old one is siezed solid. Anyway, he still won't start, back fired something fierce today and killed all the spiders in the shed. Gunna look at plugs and points tommorow, also recharging his batteries. Gunna look at removing the rear armour as well...you don't know where I can get a 9/12th stable belt Jim Bob? Cheers Troy | |
