For those of the Detmold persuasion, facebook site for people who were army brats there. Some good photo's of Hakedahl etc. Not sure if you have to be on facebook to view it?

Yes you would have to be, technically my son would be eligible for that, but seeing as we left Detmold he was barely 6 months old it would be pointless. Smile

Signwriter:  he writes what he reads you wrote!
The Headmistress  at Sir John Mogg* School, Detmold
was Mrs Ann-Marie Mason.

A school in Detmold is first mentioned in the "Coronation List".

This is a school that existed in 1952 (but not necessarily in the described location).

Formerly BFPO 41 (the address changed in the late 90s - when Detmold closed and 20 Brigade moved to be Paderborn Garrison initially in Alanbrooke Barracks and later in Barker Barracks and BFPO 22 was established to service the HQ).

The Detmold primary school Opened February 1971, closed July 2014.

Replaced Hobart primary school.

(*General Sir Herbert John Mogg, GCB, CBE, DSO* (17 February 1913 – 28 October 2001) was a senior British Army officer who also held the NATO position of Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) and was "in his time, probably the British army's most popular general".  Source: Wikipedia.)
