| When were you thinking of John Boy, I have a very busy life now that I have retired. Should we wear our badge of rank for recognition purposes? | |

Our basic training NCO, Tom Lavelle, would yell things like "You're marching like a fairy with a c--- full of crumbs!" Very subtle.

| I met Windsor Davies when he was doing the working mens club curcuit up North with Don Estelle. "sing lofty, sing", and indeed he did. had a chat over a pint after the show, very nice man, and yes he was a NS soldier. cant remember the regiment, have a feeling he said Welsh Guards | |

| I think Windsor Davies served as an RAEC Sergeant for his National Service. It was this that gave him the opportunity to observe the mannerisms of Sergeant Majors | |

| He trained as a teacher before his NS,so it`s more than likely he served in the RAEC |

"sing lofty sing" Oh yes, that was a classic ! I recall that the Char Wallah is sitting on the verandah singing "Land of Hope and Glory", to be rewarded with "SHATAAAAAP !" We don't seem to get that daft British comedy anymore, do we ?
