I met Windsor Davies when he was doing the working mens club curcuit up North with Don Estelle. "sing lofty, sing", and indeed he did. had a chat over a pint after the show, very nice man, and yes he was a NS soldier. cant remember the regiment, have a feeling he said Welsh Guards

I think Windsor Davies served as an RAEC Sergeant for his National Service. It was this that gave him the opportunity to observe the mannerisms of Sergeant Majors
