Do you remember the "magic roundabout" jonah?

Yes i do, 'magic roundabout' was a group formed by 2 guys from the LAD, Steve Pavey and the guy who was atatched to the MP's, cant remember his name. a WRAC girl who later married our recce mec and the commanders chef. They were bloody good to. I remeber them winning a band competition playing "venus"

Hi there,
Early 80's there was a darts tournamont to find the top player in BAOR. So got to see Bobby George in Hohne then Fally.
That's the only entertainer I remember, mind you we made lots of our own entertainment being in Hohne only about 90 kms from Hamburg - wink-wink- say no more !!

The band competition you mention was BAOR wide on BFBS, the winners got to go to the UK for another 'match' against the UK winners. As it happens the band that came second in Germany came from Osnabruk, my sister ended up getting married to their drummer, she was still paying for his drum set years later! needless to say they ended up divorced, yes Jonah, THAT sister, lol ! regards, Ian.

I too remember Krankenfolk concerts. Jacqui and Bridie in particular. cant remember where i saw them but sure it wasnt BMH Iserlohn, so then i guess the exact name wouldnt work would it !!!!!! There was a good folk scene all round BAOR in those days.

Thanks for that Mac. Trust Rubi got to keep the drums !!!

I remember a Krankenfolk night at Iserlohn, I think it was Harvey Andrews.
This was about the time the polizei were really cracking down on the squaddies drinking and driving.
I must have drunk three pints of bloody coke that night !

I agree, the folk scene was great in those days. BFBS used to air a show called "Country meets Folk", the intro was a track by Fairport Convention. Excellent stuff.

This is going to date me, but the only entertainers I saw in BAOR were singer Dorothy Squires and her brand new husband Roger Moore (1953) ... she was 12 years older than him and I guess his marriage to her was more than a 'leg up' than a 'leg over'

Doth the youth allude to the Five Fingered Widow, perchance ?

I know the army cooks were skilled exponents of the old Five Knuckle Shuffle.
