| Ohhhhh....Zarah (or Sarah, I thought it was) Armstrong-Jones? I suppose she is of marriageable age now....who's she marrying? Bet it won't get anywhere near the coverage that other one did!
And I thought Britannia had been decommissioned or something....made Lizzie cry, I remember. Is it still around? In dry dock maybe or some tourist attraction out on the Thames, sort of like the oceanliner Queen Elizabeth II is in Los Angeles or San Diego or wherever it is now.

Maj.Gen.Stephen Lock, Sir, I beg to report: Re ye olde ships...ex Royal Yacht Britannia IS now a tourist attraction, tied up at Edinburgh. Saw it tied up but did not do a visit. I was in Edinburgh in 2009 Queen Elizabeth, a floating hotel in Dubai. Queen Mary a tourist attraction and floating hotel in Long Beach, Calfornia. (been on that.) I was in the USA - @ 'Land of Tipping' in 2007. Yes gentlemen, I spend many dollars on travel, too much, such is life. 'Adventure Before Dementia', 'Spend Kids Inheritance', etc, etc. |

| Thanks Les...yes, it IS the Queen Mary in Long Beach I was thinking of....didn't know the QE was in Dubai though. That can't be good! And really had no idea Britannia was in Edinburgh, but at least it's still UK and, Phillip is the Duke of the place after all....some poetic justice in all that.
Apparently, the Queen Mary is haunted....by whom, I have no idea.

Zara Philips MBE No. 13 on the list Ehehehe....I know, I know...I am such a doofus sometimes!! NOT Sarah Armstrong-Jones but Zarah Philips, daughter of Princess Royal, Anne etc etc etc....DUH! Okay, well, in my own defence -- a weak one, granted -- I hadn't seen any coverage of this wedding over here in the colonies at all, you see, so when it was posted the "other wedding" was that of Zarah I immediately jumped the great distance to the conclusion what was meant was "Sarah" and the only "Sarah" that leaped to mind was Armstrong-Jones. It wasn't until that evening, actually, I was reading my paper and having a few sips of beer after work and read about Zarah marrying her football star at some kirk in Scotland. I can tell you, I immediately got that "Ohhhh geeeez...." thing wash over me and realized what a blunder I'd made in front of G-d and the world....well, the BAOR forum world, anyway!....and this is the first opportunity I've had to address it. of course, now that I am aware of that wedding, I'm seeing coverage all over the place! Rather like never seeing that certain shade of red car ever until you buy one, then you see the exact same shade of red on every third car on the road! LOL Mea Culpa

| Talking about 'that other wedding' I didn't recognise Zara's daddyfrom the photos in my newspaper. Did my very last Garrison duty with him (as he was then Lt Mark Phillips - the QDG were stationed at that time in Catterick - 1972) and had to meet him at the Catterick Garrison NAAFI Club. A lot of teenage brats were having a dance night (that's what they called it) Being resourceful, he organised two suppers for the pair of us with the manageress. Then we proceeded to switch on the lights, gave then all ten minutes and then booted the lot out. A charming fellow. Also, a useless piece of info, Princess A's car was often seen heading up to Catterick on the old A1 with a security car in tow. Its Reg No was 1418H - get it 14/18th Hussars. She was their Royal colonel. I think the car was a Simitar sports model. | |

Sorry about that. Had my Dr Crippen glasses on. Of course I should have said 14/20th Hussars. Hope there are no Hussar chappies waiting round the corner.

Bloody Hell ! That's scary ! I knew it had a Jag engine, but didn't know there was a fast back conversion................. Was she allowed to poop off the 30mm Rarden cannon, too ? I bet that cleared the motorway when you got HRH in your rear view mirror..........
