I must have another trip over to IWM Duxford soon, haven't been there for a while, and I have membership of 'Friends of Duxford' so can get in for free at any time. It is just the distance around 50 miles up the M11....

The run from Harwich to the Hook was horrendous at times, vomit everywhere the 'heads' backing up and the troop decks awash. Great start for a leave in Blighty.

A small memory of our visit in 2010 to Berlin.
We were at Check Point Charlie looking into what would have been East Berlin. When suddenly my wife scampered off across the road into old E. Berlin. Now my wife at the age of 6 weeks became a refuge in WW 2. Mennonites from the Ukraine. At the end of the war her mom and 2 brothers ended up in the Hartz mountain region on the east side of the border. They managed to get across to W. Germany with some hassle of course. So I and our friends wonder what was with her scooting off like that. So I jogged over and asked her what was up? She looked both ways from Ck. Pt. C to E. Berlin and said, " They can't touch me now". Wow what a statement from some one who was only 2 or three years old then. Some thing I never experienced but it impressed me no end on just how that time and situation affected her. I could tell this statement came deep from her soul.
