Sophia M Ackroyd

Sophia M Ackroyd ( ms Craig) was born in Airdrie, Scotland. After teaching German language in Scotland for some years, she went to Germany in the mid 1970's to teach Forces's  children. There , she met David James Ackroyd, born in Edinburgh, who was serving in Germany. They married in Airdrie in 1980, but continued their careers in Germany. I lost contact with Sophie in the mid 1990's.

As I have now been able to re-connect with Sophia independently of this forum, I do not see any need to leave this post on, and would like to have it deleted. Thank ypou.

Where did you teach Forces children? Town and location of the school. Name of any local Regiment.

If David was a military guy. Where was he based and the Regiment?  If a Civi? Which town and or military base?

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post Trying To Find Sophia M Ackroyd.

Unfortunately, I just don't know any of the details you mention that would be helpful. I assumed that as a German language teacher Sophie was there as a civilian, and that David would have been in some military position.

I will try to access their Marriage Register entry for 1980 in the hope it may give some helpful information about Occupations, and if so I'll add it to the post.

I appreciate it is very much a " needle in a haystack" type search, but having exhausted other means such as Facebook and so on, I thought it was at least worth a try.
