Please help find my dads regiment

I am new to this site and wondering if anyone can help me trace my dad's regiment and whereabouts. His name is Ronald Bage his date of birth is 14/06/48 and he died 09/01/98. I know he worked with radio's and was based in Germany. I am guessing he was part of national service and again guess he joined when he turned 18 in 1956. My dad was not in my life and divorced my mum when I was young and only go to know him when he was dying. No one seems to know what regiment he was in or where. When he was dying 2 females tried to get in touch with him from Germany again guessing could be step sisters. My dad was from Hartlepool. I have been in touch with the SSAFA and they passed me onto the MOD. Apart from filling the MOD form out and paying £30 without a guarentee does anyone know of another way to find his regiment.

I would really appreciate any help or information anything will be good at least it gives me hope.

When you know where he did is basic training and where he served in Germany please come back to this site, there are doubtless contributors to this site who will be able to add more detail.
