We used use the the Toc H in Paderborn on Sunday mornings, walk off the hangover, eat breakfast and dawdle back to Barker with the papers. Happy days.

A bunch of us lived in Private Accomodation in Paderborn for a while and had to walk up to Barker Bks every morning. I'll never forget us walking past the bakery on a freezing morning and smelling the freshly baked bread. Beautiful !

Like Gordon, I have never seen a Toc H .. heard of them of course. I'm also possibly the only ex-serviceman alive who has never seen or entered the hallowed halls of the Union Jack Club.

Toc H in Paderborn, Neuhauser Strasse, used the barber in there, Jackson brothers who also had a group that played in the local nightclubs, happy days.

We used to use the Union Jack club when based at Farnborough and having weekend jolllies in London.

Have you seen the place nowadays ?

Too bloody posh for me ! Looks like an Officers club.

Gordon, Brum,Many thanks for your tips.I have changed my profile as instructed and yes it has worked.You should see a change in the layout of the pages. I took out the comas after each country and the nine in NI and
that seems to have solved my problem. Laughing

you might just have a bit of a job getting a room at the union jack club nowdays , after the kerfuffle of the politicians expense scandles the scumbags of parliament seem to have taken over the union jack club at night ,. they get cheap rooms with no questions asked . and i very much doubt if some of the buggers were ever in the services , questions should be asked in parliament . ginger

I have it on good authority that "Toc H", in the parlance of the day was the phonetic alphabet abbreviation for Talbot House, (google it).
"Tango Hotel" would not have the same ring, would it ?
