Looking at the Park Hall Photo, the three buildings on the right they look like the Wooden Barracks we were in doing training for eight weeks in 1958........"Could they Be ??...

In those days soldiers accommodation was in "Spiders" Alan, as I'm sure you'll remember. I only went to Park hall Camp once but many camps in those days, (Rhyl, Hereford, for example), followed the same design. I'd say the buildings pictured were stores of some kind.

"john boy"........Yes it was large,as i remember there was a main road running through the camp.....On about the 5th week we were told we could go home for the week-end,but sometime on the friday we were lined up outside the M.O. Room and had Jabs (for what i can't remember). But after a while our arms swelled up and hurt like hell (no pity here) and were soon out on the parade ground doing rifle drill and running. Then were told all leave was cancelled..The first leave i had was from woolwich, then posted to germany.. "brum".......The wooden huts we were in looks the same as the ones in the photo although you can see they have been altered, and probably moved to that position they are in now.Could be wrong as its a long time ago....Alan.

Interesting layout that. .303s with their bolts removed and magazines stripped. Mk V Sten, (You never saw many of those). Two men seem to be sharing a 6ft locker, (except him on the left). "Boxed" webbing. The presence of a Bren makes me wonder if this room is platoon accom.

........ and the Mk.1 Bren, Brum.... (drum rear sight & fittings for the under-butt handle which was deleted when left hand was transferred to small of butt.) Boxing packs was a challenge when there wasn't much cardboard to be found. And the first thing was to cut out inside bits if the small pack, hoping it wasn't an offence to destroy WD property.

Don't remember much about Park Hall. I was only there two weeks before being shipped out to Tonfanau. I recall we had our jack knives withdrawn when a couple of Jocks got stroppy with some of the local hooligans.
