Ah, I always trusted a soldier, so you are the suspect Brum, plead guilty with an explanation then.

Well done anyway, Sir. sunny

Seems to be a few WO1's on the forum. Which one is acting as RSM I wonder.
I remember when I was a young Sgt in Cyprus around 1956, we had the following WO1's in our mess : two ACC WO1 instructors (Middle East School of Cookery), WO1 (BOWO RAOC), WO1 (SSM Chief Clerk Bde HQ), WO1 (ASM REME LAD) and a WO1 (RMP).
I felt so humble, but then I was only 22.

Hell Yes, when I think back I never had a bad RSM and only one SSM that was not up to much, excused boots and thought he was a shopkeeper. Looked silly in combats and shoes.
Now iv'e remembered him I won't feel guilty if I pass him, Happy Days, if it hadn't been for Sec33.1.a of the Army act 1955 I might have done a bit better on that ladder!.

Beachley Boy

Congrats, mines a Toohey Red but some king prawns as blotting paper would be welcome

You are right to up the anti if required to join his personal Staff, correct title as a Major would be Military Assistant (MA)

PS You are now a Field Officer, have you bought your spurs and got extra gold on your No 1 Dress Hat? Promotion is expensive to this rank, not counting the generous round of drinks

General Gordon, Gentlemen

Leave to enter the Senior Officers' Mess please

Drinks to celebrate my recent promotion are in the Ante Room. On offer are Bucks Fizz, Brandy Sour (hope General Shelldrake can source the neccessary Keo Brandy locally) and I am sure the Mess Manager can locate the odd crate of Amstel/Haake Beck/Herforder if asked nicely

bigmal
Rules for promotion to Captain were changed to 200 postings in June 2010 but promotion to Major quickly follows
