From experience on other sites,i found that a lot of posts are created just to move up the pecking order.I hope this will not happen here.

| Like this...so, if I understand the system correctly, the 'rank' is based on frequency of posts to the forum? Hmmmm....interesting idea. Some of us would end up being Brigadier-Generals, I should think! | |

From experience on other sites,i found that a lot of posts are created just to move up the pecking order.I hope this will not happen here. It was purely coincidental that the way the ranking structure was done meant that 1 more post would "promote" me. Why would anyone be so shallow as to post just for the sake of some virtual rank? I see no reason to object to this "ranking system", it is after all only a bit of fun and the number of posts by each member was always visible anyway. Mike

What was the old saying about being pulled through with a christmas tree? Can't really fault the RAMC because grandfather was in them during the war. Actually he never went anywhere and was posted to our town hall which was a hospital. Not fit for overseas due to heart condition. I always thought if you had two legs and at least one other limb they took anyone in the first world war!

| It never ceases to amaze me. In my travels I have found gravestones to a 16 year old with the rank of "Boy" and a 63 year old. Surely there can't have been anyone older or younger than that, even by WW1 standards! | |

| I've a 63 year old in one of my photo's. South Lancs Regt but only a private. Love to know the story about that one?
You have to laugh, the following from my grandads record.
Got 14 days CB in 1919 for "Irregular conduct by allowing women in the Medical Hut at 17.00". & 2. "Not complying with an order".
You can see who I take after then!
